Middle School is a time for change. The work load and social adjustment that occur are probably greater now than at any other time during your educational experience. As you get older as a student, more responsibility is put upon you, and expectations are greater. But you will also have many opportunities to fill your time and meet your educational and social needs here at Spencer County Middle School (SCMS). We have a wide variety of activities from sports programs, music, art, band, chorus, and drama - just to name a few!! I encourage every student to find an activity that you enjoy and want to participate in. When you become involved in an activity, you start to become a part of your school instead of just someone in it.

School attendance is very important.  If you are not here, you will have a much harder time making good grades and most importantly - LEARNING all you can.  You will receive an agenda book.  This is one of the most important "books" you will get.  It is your "hall pass", it will assist you in keeping up with your assignments, and most importantly, it will allow your parents to see what is going on in your classroom.  Other ways you will be able to keep up is the use of the school database, Infinite Campus Portal.  Parents and students will receive a log-on and password information that will give you access to the teacher grade book.  Also, SCMS has an "Announcements" page.  Please click on it for all school announcements to keep up with what is going on.  You will also be receiving your student handbook soon.  Please take time to read it and to become familiar with the rules of the school.
