It is hard to believe that we have already completed the first 9-week grading period. Time certainly does fly, which reminds us that management of that time is crucial to success.
As interim Principal, I am very excited to be here at Spencer County Middle School. The staff is an excellent team of dedicated professionals and the students are extremely easy to work with. Community pride is evident in everything that we do here.
Middle School is both a challenging and an exciting time in a young person's life. They experience many changes and opportunities from the time they enter 6th grade to 8th grade Graduation. Our staff at SCMS is committed to providing a safe environment, for each child, filled with academic and extra-curricular opportunities. It is our belief that all children can be successful and that there are some basic foundations on which that success is built: See Expectations of a Grizzly below ...
||Expectations of a Grizzly
Attendance -- Every time a child is late, absent, or leaves early, he/she misses out on something very important to their education. We ask that all families make every effort to have their children in attendance each day of school.
Behavior -- Appropriate behavior is expected of all students. This helps us focus our time on classroom instruction instead of dealing with negative issues.
Participation -- There are many activities at school to enjoy. Each child should look for those clubs, teams, or programs that interest them and try new things. Students involved in school usually are more successful.
Ownership -- Now is the time for students to accept responsibility for their work, behavior, and decisions. It is our hope that we can help foster their maturity and decision-making skills.
I encourage parents to partner with us to help your child achieve at her/his highest level. Access to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal will help you monitor your child's success. Please know that you are most welcome to stop by or call anytime with any concern.
As the school year progresses, we look forward to working with your child as they prepare themselves for high school and beyond.
