Operation Preparation
During the month of March, Spencer Co. High School sophomores will participate in Operation Preparation, a state-wide College/Career Readiness initiative. Advising is a key strategy to ensure that every student is college/career ready by the time they graduate. 10th grade students will meet individually with a trained community advisor who will review their ILP (Individual Learning Plan), a career interest inventory and EXPLORE/PLAN results to discuss the student’s:
· Career aspirations, required education/training and workforce skills
· Whether the student is on target to meet their goals
· Whether the student is taking the courses recommended to prepare them for a successful future.
Operation Preparation is designed to provide both information and inspiration for the student to achieve college/career readiness.
Parents play a vital role in their student becoming college and career ready. If you have a middle or high school student, help them in the development of their ILP (Individual Learning Plan) – an on-line tool designed to allow students to explore careers, track coursework and activities and search for post-secondary options. It is mandatory for students in grades 6-12 and parents are required to sign-off on their child’s ILP each year. Login credentials are available from your child’s school. Please encourage your child to be actively engaged in this process by asking questions concerning their future goals, current course-work, test-scores and reviewing their ILP’s. For questions or more information, contact Linda Goldey at 477-3255.
